Commercial floor removal & demolition

Big spaces.
A better way to clear them.

Ride-on commercial floor removal from Fresno to the Oregon border, along the I-5 corridor and throughout the Bay Area. AFI connects large-area demolition with careful preparation for the floor that comes next.

Equipment for the scale of the job

More than pulling up
the old floor.

Large rooms, bonded materials and tight renovation windows need a removal plan. Our battery-powered Terminator T3000EI ride-on scraper gives AFI the capacity to tackle substantial areas, with operators who understand the preparation and installation that follow.

01 / Remove

Match the material.

Commercial carpet, vinyl tile and sheet flooring are common starting points. Glued wood, ceramic tile and other bonded coverings are evaluated for the material, adhesive and substrate involved.

02 / Coordinate

Plan the work zone.

Review loading, doorways, floor levels, machine access, occupied areas and debris handling before work begins. Agree on phasing and reopening needs alongside the removal scope.

03 / Prepare

Carry the details through.

Removal exposes the conditions underneath. Adhesive residue, patching, flatness and moisture decisions belong in the next step, so the surface is prepared for the selected flooring system.

Operated ride-on floor removal

The right machine.
A practical work plan.

The Terminator T3000EI is an electric ride-on floor scraper designed for bonded floor-covering removal. Battery power means no engine exhaust during operation—a useful feature for interior commercial work.

The equipment is part of the service. AFI reviews the site, selects the removal approach and defines the follow-on preparation instead of treating every floor as the same job.

Sunnyvale medical technology facility

A large footprint.
A deadline that held.

At Sunnyvale, AFI demolished 130,000 square feet of existing flooring across two buildings. Our broader scope included testing, moisture treatment, preparation and installation around and beneath lifted cubicles.

When two weeks were removed from the original two-month schedule after work began, AFI still met the project deadline. Managing the work sequence was as important as managing the floor.

Central & Northern California

Local equipment.
Regional reach.

Demolition is available throughout AFI’s commercial flooring service area: from Fresno to the Oregon border, along the I-5 corridor and throughout the Bay Area.

From our Redding base, we serve projects in Chico, Red Bluff, Anderson, Mount Shasta, Yreka and communities across that wider footprint. We plan mobilization, access and scheduling for the work your building requires.

Common questions

Before removal begins.

Can AFI remove the floor if someone else is installing the replacement?

Yes. Ask about a removal-only scope. We agree on the removal limits, debris handling and substrate condition required for the handoff.

Can a ride-on machine work upstairs?

It depends on the actual machine configuration, building loading limits and access. We review the route, any elevator capacity and site requirements before deciding how to perform the work.

Is the floor ready for installation as soon as the covering is removed?

Not necessarily. Adhesive residue, substrate damage, flatness and the selected flooring requirements may call for additional preparation. AFI can help define that follow-on scope.

Can you work around an occupied business or school schedule?

We plan phased or after-hours work where suitable. Noise, work zones, access, cleanup and the reopening sequence are discussed for the individual building.
